Oh how I wish someone had told me. George was not only a friend but he took this young girl who enlisted in the Navy because she wanted to be an x-ray tech under his wings. He taught me everything possible so when I departed the Naval Hospital, Beaufort, SC not only was I competely prepared for a year long school to become an advanced x-ray tech I was a shining star. There are 2 things that come to mind when I think of George. First, his favorite breakfast. It always arrived well before him as we prepared to start our work day in the radiology department. Nothing like a fresh opened can of sardines washed down with a warm coke. Second, how deeply he loved Jimmy and at that time, Chris and Carl. They made me a part of their family and I don't think either of them ever knew how much I loved and appreciated them for that. I am sad I had to learn of his passing by posts on what would have been his birthday this past December on his facebook page and looking to see if there was an obituary to support my beliefs.
Jimmy, you and George were soulmates, 2 peas in a pod, loving parents and always had wide open arms for new friends. So many good memories of our times in Beaufort and Norfolk. George enjoyed telling his shipmates his kid's were babysat by a first class petty officer.
God's Speed George, we have the watch. Love and hugs to you Jimmy. You kept him going when he thought he could go no more and were with him 100% of the way. If that isn't love, pure and simple, then you have never felt it or saw it as I did with George and Jimmy. Susan Burnworth, HMC, USN, RET

Mr. George was always a welcoming and fun person to be around. He was always ready to joke around and made it a point to be active when I would visit Alex. He will be missed. Sorry for your loss. Condolences from the Olson family.
