I used to sit and watch Mr George with his cats. He had 14 that I knew of for sure. There were a couple of others he said were not his, they just show up sometimes. He would sit or stand in his front door and talk to them. His cats would be lined up side by side on the front steps. The ones that didn't fit on the steps would form a loose semi-circle at the bottom. He said sometimes he would sing to them and that they were very polite. He said it didn't matter how awful he sounded, they always stayed to the end, then he'd kind of chuckle. He would point to one older looking male, he'd say, that's Old Tom. He's been with me, well, at least eleven years. We been through a lot together.
