Obituary of Monroe Larou Harper
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Monroe Larou Harper, 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013, in the sanctuary of Dry Creek Bible Church, Dry Creek, LA, with Bro. Sam Burchard under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Dry Creek Cemetery, Dry Creek, LA.
The family would like to welcome guests at Dry Creek Bible Church for visitation Monday, February 4, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Mr. Harper was born January 15, 1925, in Camp Hoy, LA, to the late Leroy and Ethel Mitchell Harper and was called to his Heavenly palace February 2, 2013, in Jennings, LA. He was affiliated with Dry Creek Bible Church and served this grateful nation by enlisting with the United States Army and going to combat in Europe during WWII. Mr. Harper loved planting cross-bread flowers in his garden, always having a large vegetable garden and spending much desired time at his pond. He has worked in insurance sales for many years in the Lake Charles area through Magnolia Life, Woodsman of the World, and Aflac for thirty-five years. Mr. and Mrs. Harper have had the pleasure of traveling from incentives through his companies. He enjoyed bringing smiles to people's faces with his stories and various fun tactics. Mr. Harper will be remembered as the family man standing beside Mrs. Annie Kathleen Campbell Harper the love of his life.
Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife. Left to cherish the memories of Mr. Harper will be his son, Patrick Harper and wife Kathy, two daughters; Suzie Langley and husband Russell and Judy Spears, one sister, Margaret Bandy, five grandsons, four step grandsons, twenty-one great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, along with numerous extended family member and many great friends.
Honoring Mr. Harper as pallbearers will be Bryan Harper, Rick Harper, Cody Spears , Brad Scoggins, Ben Scoggins, and Jake Langley.
