Obituary of Gayle Adair Bailey

Gayle S. Bailey, 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Mrs. Bailey was born in Weed, California in 1936 to Leo and Harriet Samuelson. Her early years were spent in Bishop, California until her and her parents moved to DeRidder, Louisiana in 1948. After graduating from DeRidder High School, she attended LSU Baton Rouge and later returned to teach English and French at D.H.S. She then was employed by Boise Cascade and retired in 1999 after 30 years with the firm. Mrs. Bailey enjoyed traveling Europe many times with her sister and family. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her parents: Leo and Harriet Samuelson; Husband: H. Allen Bailey and son: Christopher Allen Bailey. Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memories are her son, Mark Todd Bailey of Port Arthur, Texas; Daughter, Michelle Deason of Brenham, Texas; sister: Gwen Houston of Deridder, Louisiana; 5 grandchildren: Misty King, Cheree' King, Mark William Bailey, Bryan Wayne Deason and Megan M. Deason; 5 great grandchildren, Grayson King, Eli King, Castin King, Mark Christopher Bailey and Kenna Bailey. Funeral services for Mrs. Gayle Samuelson Bailey will be conducted at 2pm, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Hixson Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, Louisiana with Pastor Wayne Evans officiating. Entombment will follow in Beauregard Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 4 – 8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, family request that donations be made to the .
