Obituary of Carolyn Rose Smith

Early in the morning on May 17, 2021, Carolyn Rose Smith, age 73, of Pitkin, LA, departed this life and entered the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is welcomed by her precious momma, Rose Rasberry, and her grandparents who loved her so much, Willie and Dottie Walters. Also preceding her in death, father Charles C. Smith and stepfather Richard Rasberry. She is survived by two brothers, Charles “Wayne” Smith and wife Melissa of DeQuincy, LA and Terry Rasberry and wife Diane of Pitkin, LA. Three nephews, Jason Smith, wife Kelly and their daughter Charlie Ann of DeQuincy, LA, Jamey Rasberry wife Becky and daughters, Addison and Amelia Rose of Lake Charles, LA and Mark Rasberry, wife Karen and their daughter, Kinsley all of Lacassine, LA. Carolyn LOVED to talk on the phone, checking on her many friends and family members throughout the day, especially best friend and “Little Sister” Denise Jacobs, and lifelong friend Ollie Mae Hutchinson. She crocheted many dishcloths and Afghans, purchased by the community at the Annual Christmas Parade in Pitkin. You can count yourself among the “blessed” if she ever made you a pot of dumplings or a coconut cake. She will be greatly missed by us all. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to time of service at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Pitkin with Rev. Stephen Laughlin officiating. Following services, she will be laid to rest at the Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin, LA. Services are under the direction of the DeRidder Funeral Home. The family requests that masks be required for the safety of family and friends.
