Obituary of Athus Randy Brister

Funeral services for Athus Randy Brister, 64, of DeRidder will be held at DeRidder Funeral Home on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. George Lee Glass and Rev. Ronnie Lalonde officiating. Interment will be at the Beauregard Cemetery following services under the direction of the DeRidder Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 30th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm, and on Saturday, May 1st from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Athus Randy was born on September 17, 1956 in DeRidder, Louisiana to Athus Andy and Helen Margie McCullogh Brister. He passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Athus Brister; grandparents, Laura & Clifford McCullogh and Lizzie & Huey Brister; grandma, Helen Davis; uncle and aunt, Elmore & Ruth McCullogh; brothers, Richard “Dickie” Brister, Joseph W. “Joe” Brister and Michael Lee Brister; sister, Helen Ruth Brister; in-laws, Dorothy & Wesley Whittington and uncle, Joe Don Dickson. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Whittington Brister of DeRidder; daughters, Sandy Brister Schuetz & husband, Brian of DeRidder, Candy Brister Miller & husband, Melvin of DeRidder, Brandy Brister Lavergne & husband Shane of DeRidder and Randi “Bay Bay” Brister Mack & husband Jason of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Hanna Schuetz, Wesley Schuetz, Dylan Schuetz, Leya Miller, Cade Athus Miller, Brynlee Lavergne, Beau Lavergne and Grady Mack; mother, Helen Margie Brister of DeRidder; brother, David A. Brister & wife, Rosalind of DeRidder; sister, Debra Jean Hoskey of DeRidder; aunt, Nancy McCullogh Dickson of DeRidder; cousins & best friends, Curtis Brister and Stanley Brister and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Stewart Hoskey, Richie Brister, Chad Brister, Timothy Purdy, Jacob Fuselier, Jody Buxton and Rickey Prater.
