Obituary of LeRoy G. Simmons

Graveside services for LeRoy G. Simmons, 85, of DeRidder will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, LA on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. George Lee Glass, Jr. officiating. Services are under the direction of the DeRidder Funeral Home. LeRoy was born on February 2, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana to LeRoy V. and Audrey M. Austin Simmons. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in DeRidder, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Audrey Simmons and step-daughter, Vicky Moses. Mr. Simmons retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation after thirty-three years. He loved to ride motorcycles, to travel, and to garden. Most of all he loved his church, pastors, and friends. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mildred Simmons of DeRidder, LA; his daughter Renee Misenheimer & husband, Jerry of El Dorado, AR, his son LeRoy Simmons, Jr. of Texarkana, TX, his son Dennis Simmons & wife, Charlena of Texarkana, TX and step-son Joseph Penney & wife, Jennifer of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Garth Simmons of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Brett Misenheimer & wife, Gabi, Troy Misenheimer, Aaron Simmons, Micah Simmons, Justin Simmons, Andrew Simmons, Eli Penney and Solomon Penney and seven great-grandchildren.
