Obituary of Emory "Julian" Campbell

Emory “Julian” Campbell, 79 of Dry Creek, entered into eternal rest on December 7, 2020 at his residence in Dry Creek surrounded by his family. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, with a visitation from 11 a.m. until service time at the DeRidder Funeral Home: formerly Hixson’s Funeral Home, 210 North Pine Street, DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 5 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. He was born on May 12, 1941 in Dry Creek, Louisiana, was the 1959 valedictorian of Dry Creek High School and a member of the All-District and All-State Track and Basketball Teams and was Class C state track winner. He was married 50 years to Marilyn Sharp Campbell of Dry Creek and Owner of Campbell’s Canoe Rental for 29 years. After working for Crosby Chemicals for 13 years, he worked and retired from Boise Cascade in DeRidder after 30 years. Survivors include his children Tim Campbell (Jackie) of Coushatta, LA, Kim Taylor (Michael) of DeRidder, Kay Fox (Nick) of Dry Creek, and Keri Jones (Daniel) of Denham Springs and sister, Charlsie Caywood of Willis, TX. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Timothy Jr., Jameson, Cameron, Caidon, and Colton Campbell of Coushatta, LA, Jared Taylor (Tiffany) of DeRidder, LA, Trent Taylor (Diana) of Longville, Kimily Miller (Jeremy) of DeRidder, Ryan Fox (Heather) of Dallas, TX, Megan Fox of the Woodlands, TX, and Logan Fox of Dallas, TX, and Juliana and Campbell Jones of Denham Springs, and six great children, Aubrey and Eva Taylor, Bennett and Travis Taylor, Journi Miller, and Oliver Fox. The family would like to thank April Dearmon for her unconditional love and care during the past few years. Mr. Campbell was King Beau Fair 2011. He was a charter member of the Sugartown Watermelon Association, served on the Ward Eight Fair Committee, was a long-time member of Soul’s Harbor Pentecostal Church in Dry Creek, a member of the Beauregard Parish District Three Water Board, a member of the Dry Creek Cemetery Board and an avid certified guitar picker, gardener, hunter and fisherman. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; parents James F. and Annie Campbell; brothers, Fred and Tom Campbell and sisters, Jimmie Lou Norwood, Kathleen Harper, and Diane Bushnell. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
