Obituary of Mack (Buddy) Goins

Mack (Buddy) Goins, 91 years old of Rosepine, Louisiana died on Monday, November 16, 2020. Mr. Goins was born August 11, 1929 in Hornbeck, Louisiana. Son of the late Owen and Alma (Sanders) Goins .He was a graduate of Rosepine High School and Sowela Technical Institute. Mr. Goins worked in the oil field for over 40 years with 35 of those years being with Dia Log as an operator and regional manager. Upon retirement, he was able to pursue his great love of land management, farming, and ranching. As the years passed, he relied heavily on his nephew Marlon Calhoun. His love of community led him to serve two terms as commissioner for USDA-FSA, serve on the water board of Rosepine, La., and serve as a board member of the Old Cypress Cemetery. Mr. Goins was interested and active in ancestry and genealogy. Mr. Goins is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Freddie Allen Goins. He is survived by his three daughters: Alma Ruth Goins Gillespie (Steve) both of Ragley, Louisiana; Jeanie Goins White of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Carmen Beth Goins Menzel (Mark) both of Clemmons, North Carolina; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Janie Goins Thompson (Bobby) of Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 2:00 pm at DeRidder Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM. The Reverend Bill Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Cypress Cemetery under the direction of the DeRidder Funeral Home.
