Robert was a story of inspiration! He never put Self 1st, but by putting everyone else 1st, it put Him right up front; and his height put him on top! He led by conviction, faith, strength and example.
Robert's life revolved around Becky & kids, Rhonda, Berta, Roho & Philip, but he had so much more to give. He cherished their grandkids, historical home and "stuff", but there was more.
He helped Becky thru' her recovery, continued their hobbies, etc. all thru' his !st encounter with cancer. and there' more.
He kept extended family connected and Pitkin, as well, because he loved his hometown.
Robert, Bob, 'Caze or Toby, whatever you called him, he had a fun side. He could just pick up a guitar and play sing with that great country, gospel voice; !st song ever was "Big John, Big Bad John", as I recall.
We could never envision life without Robert.
He left us with such peace that he knew Jesus; knew where he was going...
"Absent from the body, present with the Lord". 2 Cor. 5:8b .

Mrs. Lacaze and family,
On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of the Vernon Community Action Council, Inc. we wish to extend our sincerest condolences to you all. Mr. Robert will be truly missed by all of us. He was a well respected member of the Board and was a rare gem as he loved to attend training's and conferences on behalf of the Board and eagerly absorbed information that we could utilize to enhance our organization. Members of our association from across the state recognized and knew him and are saddened by his passing. Mr. Robert would sit quietly but would observe and listen but when he wanted to know something he was quick to ask. Our events without the "three stooges" as we loving referred to them, Mr. Robert, Mr. Tommy (Jackson) and Mr. Lealon (Johnson), will not be the same. His absence will be felt for a long time to come.
Though you all might not know us be assured that we know you. Mr. Robert's love and admiration for his family was so much a part of who he was that to know him was to know you.
Our greatest wish for you all is that God will wrap his arms around you and comfort you with the many wonderful memories you have.
God bless you & keep you.
Renee, Carol, Courtney, Deanna, Frank & Jimbo and the Board of Directors

No one can replace my father. He was always my rock, always available to talk to, never judgmental. He always took time for me. I can remember him coming home from graveyard shift and watching G.I. Joe cartoons on Saturday mornings. I remember playing Mario Bros, and Duck Hunter on Nintendo. On Sega he was always ready to play Contra with me, and if the lazer gun popped up it was a race because he could do major damage with the lazer gun! He taught me how to hold the baseball bat and how to hit. He played catch with me in the yard and taught me how to pitch. He taught me table manners. He taught me how to fish. He taught me how to hunt, how to look for sign and tracks and how to shoot. He taught me how to plant a garden and when to pick the vegetables. He taught me how run a tractor and work the land, how to raise animals. He taught me how to be a man. He was still teaching me every day. He taught me how to listen and he taught me how to forgive. He taught me how to be a father, and how to love. He taught me how special family is and how blessed we are to have the family we do. He taught me wrong from right. He taught me how to pick myself up when i fell. Since i can remember he was a giant among men. He was the most honest, honorable, giving, forgiving, loving man I have ever known. He is still a giant to me, larger than life. Everyone who ever spoke to me about my father never had anything but wonderful things to say. He was my mentor, my confidant, my friend, my father. He was my guide through life. No matter what he was there to talk to and listen. He would give me advice when I needed it, hug me when I needed it. He was a guiding star when the world seemed dark and confusing. He was always compassionate and understanding. The world only lost one man, but that one man was my world. He lead by example, honor, honesty, love, wasn't just words to him, they were actions. I only hope that I am half the man he was and if I am a tenth of the father he was I am a great father. No one will ever replace him, and a part of my heart has gone with him. The love he gave our family can never be replaced. He was a great man, a great friend, and the best father. I find comfort knowing that we are all Saved and I take comfort in knowing that this is just temporary. One day when Jesus calls we will all be together again in a place that knows no sorrow, no pain, no sadness, only love.

Robert
My heart is so broken
This is so new
Without brother Robert
What will I do
We spent hours together
On his porch or mine
A cup-a-coffee in hand
No regard to the time
We talked, we planned
We gossiped and laughed
Discussing our kids
Was only the half
We hauled our RV's
Up to the lake
A few days of leisure
Is all that it takes
And now we're antiquing
We've both got the bug
You found an old tractor
And I got the rug
We spread this old table
Fresh vegetables to spare
"Come on in" to the family
"Just pull up a chair"
A Joy to my life
Has just slipped away
But our family in Heaven
Is rejoicing today
I Love You, Robert 'Caze

Robert Monroe LaCaze, Blessed to have called you my father in law, the most patient, selfless, and loving man I know. No one could ever fill your shoes....
I know you are in heaven playing your guitar and telling all of the Angels one of your many wonderful stories. Words could never express how much I will miss you... Until we meet again. As a father to me and a grandfather to my children I could not have picked another as wonderful as you. In the very short time I was blessed to have in my life, you have shown me unconditional love, support, advise, guidance, and a wonderful friendship. The last words you spoke to me will be forever in my heart. "God has placed me here to make a difference in someone's life. I guess I have fulfilled my destiny and it's time for me to go." Well I know you have made a difference in my life. I owe so much to you and Mrs. Becky. Sitting here now reminiscing, the day Roho asked me to come and work with him and my first comment to Roho was "What am I going to do without your daddy?" Today looking at the days, months, and years ahead without you to call or text I have the same question, what am I going to do without OUR daddy???
Love you forever and always your daughter in law,
Jen
