Obituary of Marry L. Morrow
Mary L. “Petie” Morrow was born on December 8, 1934 in Franklin, Louisiana, to Fredrick R. and Gladys Stacks Himel. She passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Longville, LA. She was a resident of Beauregard Parish. Mrs. Morrow retired from the Department of Agriculture & Forestry after 38 years; working in the Longville Fire Tower for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon S. Morrow; son, David Y. Morrow; grandson, Kenneth Morrow and brother, Fred R. Himel, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Morrow, Vincent “Buddy” Morrow & wife, Gail, and Daniel Z. Morrow; daughters, Edith Crain and Ellen Chiasson & husband, Kimball; sister, Noelie Coleman Mills; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous friends & acquaintances.
One of Mary’s favorite things was the game of tennis & her love of Andre Agassi & Roger Federer. Having never played a single game in her life, she could tell you any bit of history on any player. She scheduled her vacations around Wimbledon & the US Open to which she remained glued to her beloved tennis channel until the final match was complete.
When a grandchild needed an answer to a question, they told each other to ask, “Grandma Petie she knows everything”. She was a very wise woman, who could squeeze 99 cents out of every dime.
She was a true matriarch of the family remaining dedicated to her children all of her days.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 6 pm to 9 pm and on Sunday December 2, 2018 from 12 noon until 6 pm at the DeRidder Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
Funeral services will be held at the DeRidder Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10 am. Burial will follow in the Beauregard Cemetery, under the direction of the DeRidder Funeral Home.
