Obituary of Sharon Gayle Clifton

Sharon Gayle (Cryer) Clifton was born October 03, 1937 in Rosepine, LA and passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Leesville, LA.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Myrom Clifton and daughter, Lisa Rene Clifton Tucker & husband, James Tucker, Sr.  Gayle was also preceded in death by her father, Cullen Clinton Cryer and her mother, Pearl Wright Cryer of Rosepine, LA; sister, Eutha Yvonne (Cryer) Fletcher, also two brothers, Huey Clinton Cryer and James Hardy Cryer.

Gayle graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, LA and graduated from Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, LA with a BA in Library Science.  She later acquired a Master’s degree in Library Science.  She was an elementary school teacher as well.  She was a librarian in several libraries in Houston, TX.  Later she and her family returned to Rosepine, LA where she retired as a librarian at Fort Polk, LA.  She had a love for books and reading.  She also enjoyed listening to classical music and her love for God was abundant.  She loved her family intensely and enjoyed other relatives visiting in her home.

She is survived by her son, James (Jim) Daryl Clifton of Sulphur, LA; grandchildren, James Leo Tucker, Jr. and sons Zacary J. Tucker, Brayden M. Tucker; Chelsea Nicole Tucker and son, Tucker J. Pelt of Rosepine, LA; sisters, Rheta I. (Cryer) Lewis, Nelwyn Joye (Cryer) Faulkner and beloved brother-in-law (brother) Ralph L. Faulkner of DeRidder, LA.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the DeRidder Funeral Home, 210 N. Pine Street, DeRidder, LA.

Funeral services will be held at the Rosepine United Pentecostal Church in Rosepine, LA on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. Rev. Gary Bankson and Rev. George Lee Glass will officiate.  Interment will be at the Rosepine Cemetery, in Rosepine, LA following services.
