Obituary of Billy Joe Brewer

Funeral services for Billy Joe Brewer, 84, of Bundick Lake, will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the DeRidder Funeral Home with Bro. Sam Burchard and Rev. Alvin Peters, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery, in DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 5pm until 11pm, at the funeral home.

Billy Joe, the son of Buddy & Rachel Durbin Brewer was born on August 22, 1933 in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. He passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Mr. Brewer was a lifelong resident of Beauregard Parish. He worked at International Paper for twenty years and owned and operated Brewer’s Grocery at Bundick Lake.   He enjoyed playing Blue Grass Music and going to the casino to play the penny slots.  He loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Rachel Brewer; brother, Johnny Brewer and two sisters, Billie Moore and Madge Brewer.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Brewer of Bundick Lake; sons, Terry Joe Brewer & wife Mary of Bundick Lake and Gerry Don Brewer & wife Janice of Olive Branch, MS and sister, Betty Kayne of Seattle, WA; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. “Bicycle “
