Obituary of Sethie D. Cole Governale
Funeral services for Sethie D. Cole Governale, 95, of DeRidder, will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Texas Avenue Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana, with Rev. Lindsey Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery, in the Cole Central Community, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. at the DeRidder Funeral Home 210 N. Pine Street, DeRidder, Louisiana.
Sethie was born and grew up on Rte-2, Pitkin, LA in the Cole Central Community. She graduated Sugartown High School in 1940 and met her beloved husband, Lucien “Frenchy” Governale, while he was stationed at Ft. Polk in Leesville, LA. They were married in 1945 and made their home in DeRidder, LA. She worked at Beauregard Electric Company as a Customer Representative in the New Service Department for 30 years and retired in 1984. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder, LA. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend. Sethie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by Parents, Seth D. Cole and Ola Wellman Cole, three sisters, Gladys Hughes, Vivon Jones and Mildred Young, and her loving husband of 62 years, L.B. “Frenchy” Governale.
She is survived by her son Gary B. Governale and wife Ann Marcello Governale of Indian Trail, NC, daughter Barbara Governale of DeRidder, LA, daughter Debra Governale Lockerman and husband Stuart Lockerman of Tulsa, OK, and daughter Jackie Governale Schulz of DeRidder, LA, as well as 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
