Obituary of Jean Faye Cox

Funeral services for Jean Cox, 88, of DeRidder will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Smyrna Baptist Church in DeRidder, with Bro. Tim Lee and Bro. Frank Ott officiating.  Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery, in DeRidder.  Services are under the direction of the DeRidder Funeral Home.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 6pm until 9pm at the church.

Jean, the daughter of Joe and Nancy Stracener Weldon, was born on December 3, 1929, in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. She passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Mrs. Cox was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish and lifelong member of the Smyrna Baptist Church. 

She owned and operated her own beauty shop, Jeans Cut And Curl. She volunteered at the Pregnancy Crisis Center.

She was preceded in death by her, husband, Garland Cox; parents, Joe & Nancy Weldon; son, Gary Cox; brothers, Melvin, Morris, Jimmy Joe and sisters, Delora and Doris.

She is survived by her son, Rickey L. Cox of DeRidder and sister, June Craft and husband Glen of DeQuincy.
