Obituary of Mary Ann Hamilton Taylor
Mary Ann Hamilton Taylor was born December 30th 1938 and went to be with Christ on October 27th 2017. She was the daughter of Clarence Robert Hamilton and Minnie Mae Hazelwood. She went to DeRidder High School and was a Majorette in the band. She participated in various local Beauty Pageants and her favorite talent was singing. She was Miss Central Louisiana in the 50’s and was the second runner-up at the preliminary Miss Universe Contest at New Orleans. The Mayor of DeRidder, John Wooten, escorted her in a parade in honor of her accomplishment. She attended McNeese State University for 2 years studying Voice, Music, and Drama. She was passionate about acting and had leading roles at the Baytown Little Theater in the 70’s. Mary Ann had a love for reading and throughout her academic studies maintained a high level of achievement. She enjoyed long picnics with her children. She encouraged all of her children to pursue a love for singing and music.
Mary Ann loved to laugh and share in laughter with others. She had the ability to be the sweetest person you could ever meet on this earth. In her later years at the nursing home, Mary Ann competed in an Olympic dancing competition and won. She was talented and active in her later years attending many activities and enjoying the beauty of East Texas. She had a vibrant and engaging smile. She was a beautiful woman and loving mother. Her family will miss her greatly. She was survived by her brother Bobby Hamilton; Mary Ann’s children: Desiree Edwards, Tiffiny Niederhofer Vaughn, John Niederhofer, and Tamara Tidwell; Her grandchildren: Laura Romberg, Kristen Parker, Christopher Edwards, Virginia Ruth Oliver, Luke Niederhofer, Carys Niederhofer, Esther Tidwell and Jewel Tidwell; Mary Ann’s great grandchildren: Nora Parker and Oliver Parker.
Graveside services will be held on November 04, 2017 at Beauregard Cemetery at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Lindsey Burns officiating. Burial will follow after the service. Funeral services are under the direction of DeRidder Funeral home.
