Obituary of Huey H Ashworth

Huey Henry Ashworth, 87, of Merryville, Louisiana entered eternal peace on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015 in Merryville, Louisiana. Mr.Huey was a native of Singer Louisiana but resided in Merryville, Louisiana for the past 43 years. Mr. Huey was a retired sawmill and logging worker which he did most of his life. He was a member of the Bethel Grove Pentecostal Church, where he was a song leader and enjoyed playing his electric guitar. He was dedicated to taking care of his wife until the Lord called her home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Director of Nurses, Heather Nelson, and the entire staff at the Merryville Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Ashworth was preceded in death by his parents; Ocie and Ellen Ashworth; wife, Norma Lea Ashworth; one son, James Wacy Stamps; one daughter, Gail Ashworth; two brothers, RL Ashworth and Delmer Ashworth; one sister, Fannie Perkins; one grandson, James D. Stamps; one granddaughter, April Ashworth and one great grandson, Alexander J. Lopez. Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his four sons, Earnest Ashworth of Conroe, TX; Glen Stamps, David Stamps, Thomas Stamps and wife Jackie; one daughter, Cathy Lott and husband Robert all of Merryville, LA; one daughter in law, Shelia Stamps of Richardson, TX; one sister in law, Alice Beth Ashworth of Singer LA; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Visitation will begin on Saturday, September 5th, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Bethel Grove Pentecostal Church in Merryville, LA. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 6th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Grove Pentecostal Church in Merryville, LA with Reverend Roy Hoosier and Rod Boyer officiating. Interment will follow at Cannon Cemetery in Merryville, LA. Services will be under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
