Obituary of Freda Faith Manley

Freda Faith Manley, age 84 of Kingwood Texas passed away Sunday December 6, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 19, 1931 in Rosepine, LA to Maurice Leroy & Ellen (Carpenter) Woodhatch. She taught school for the Vernon Parish Schools for 26 years. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, and painting with oil paints. She and her husband were volunteers for 16 years with "Campers on Mission" which helped to build small churches for congregations that could not afford to do so. They helped build 27 churches from Maine to California and later helped organize a chapter in Kansas. They moved to Bossier City, LA in April of 2010, and most recently moved to Kingwood, TX. Those left to mourn her loss, and cherish her memory, are her husband of 35 years, Chester 'Gene' Manley of Kingwood, TX; Her 2 sons: Steve Jensen (wife Linda) of DeQuincy, LA and Paul Jensen (wife Victoria) of St. John, KS; Granddaughters Shauna (husband Robert) Reiter of Colorado Springs, CO; Brittani Took of Kingwood, TX; 7 additional grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Her 2 brothers: Maynard Woodhatch (wife Lorraine) of Lake Charles, LA and Larry Woodhatch (wife Paulette) of Moss Bluff, LA and a brother-in-law: Leroy Garst, DeRidder, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Emogene Garst. In lieu of flower the family is requesting donations in the honor of Freda be made to St. Jude Children Hospital in Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1300 Hwy 26 in DeRidder, LA with burial following in Whitaker Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder.
