Obituary of Allen O'Neil Spikes

Allen O'Neil Spikes, age 83 of Longville, LA passed away January 1, 2016 in Westwood Manor Nursing Home where he resided in DeRidder. Mr. Spikes was born March 28, 1932 the son of Ocie and Della (Weeks) Spikes. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Longville where he also served as a deacon. He retired from Trunkline Gas Company where he was an engine operator for over thirty years. He enjoyed wood working and building things, and was a devoted husband and caretaker for his wife for many years through her illness. He is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean, sons Gary and Chris Spikes, his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his 2 daughters: Tanya Chaney (husband Jerry) of Longville and Lisa Stracener of DeRidder, along with his 10 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren, and 2 sisters: Melba Brown of Ragley, and Elta Rae Hauser (husband Mack) of DeRidder. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, January 4, 2016 at Memorial Baptist Church in Longville with visitation 4-6 PM Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder and again from Noon until service time Monday at the church. Burial will take place in Barrentine Cemetery in Longville. Arrangements entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home, DeRidder.
