Obituary of Ottis Stephens

Gene Stephens Ottis "Gene" Stephens, age 72 of Rosepine, LA passed away January 18, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles, LA. He was born December 8, 1943 in the community of Liliedahl in Evans La. to Thomas and Edith ( Cryer ) Stephens. Gene was a hardworking man who was a truck driver for O'Neal Feeds & Dupre Trucking. Gene also did remodeling and handyman work. When Gene had a little spare time he enjoyed painting as well as working on cars. Gene never met a stranger. Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his Parents, as well as 7 Brothers and 2 Sisters. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his wife, Kay Stephens of Rosepine, LA; his children: Robert Gene Stephens ( Sherrie ) of Rosepine, James Smith Jr. of Sulphur, Deborah MacNeill ( George ) of Meridian Ms. , Lisa Vidrine of Killeen Tx. ,and Becky Weekley ( James ) of Rosepine. Gene is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 20, 2016 at 2:00pm at Providence Baptist Church with burial following in Johnson Bailey Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday January 19, 2016 from 5:00 to 9:00pm at Providence Baptist Church. Services will be under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in Deridder, LA.
