Obituary of Lou Anne Smith

Lou Anne Smith, 85, of DeRidder, Louisiana entered eternal peace on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 in DeRidder, Louisiana. She was a retired educator from DeRidder High School and Beauregard Parish School Board. She enjoyed painting, playing the piano, was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Walter R. Eagles and one brother, Walter Rufus Eagles. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Dewey O. Smith of DeRidder, LA; two sons, Eugene D. Smith and Vanessa Price of Rosepine, LA and Stewart O. Smith of Kingsville, TX; one brother, James H. Eagles and wife Sandra of Dry Prong, LA; two sisters, Thelma R. Griffith and husband Stan of Pineville, LA and Jessie Kelly of Moss Bluff, LA; three grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous extended family and friends. Visitation will began of Saturday, January 23rd, 2015 from 11:00am until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 23rd, 2015 at Friendship Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Whitaker Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Services by Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
