Obituary of Shirley McCullough
Shirley R. McCullough, age 79 of Dry Creek, LA and formerly of DeRidder, passed away February 4, 2016 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles. She was born January 17, 1937 in Oakdale to Eli E. & Beulah M. (Jordan) Richmond. She was a homemaker, and loved to travel and spend time with family, her and her sisters sang in a gospel group and she also sang in the church choir at Northside Baptist Church in Oakdale where she was a member for many years. She had a passion for dogs, always caring for any and all strays. She was a dog groomer for many years. She married Kerby McCullough in 1953 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Also preceding her in death are her parents, one brother Ralph Richmond, and a sister Eva Mae Hayden. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her two sons, Marcus Lynn McCullough (Lecia) of Moss Bluff, and Randy Lee McCullough (Lynda) of Dry Creek. Seven grandchildren, Matthew McCullough, Brant McCullough (Kerri), Blake McCullough Williams (Scott), Laken McCullough Bertrand, Justin McCullough, Cheyenne McCullough, and Baley McCullough and four great grandchildren also survive along with her two brothers, Charles Richmond (Audrey) and James Harold Richmond (Carolyn) both of Oakdale, and five sisters, Audrey Holcomb of Vivian, LA, Marguerite Loyd of Shreveport, LA, Mary Martha Mollette (Larry) of Texarkana, TX, Norma Sue Jeansonne (Rodney) of Glenmora, LA and Lana Faye Paul (Curtis) of Oakdale, LA. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family whom will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Northside Baptist Church 2808 Hwy 1153 in Oakdale, LA with burial following in Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin. Visitation will be held after 5 pm Friday until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
