Obituary of Leroy Emery Garst

Leroy Emery Garst, 89 of DeRidder Louisiana passed from this life on April 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his Loving Family. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church of DeRidder. He will be remembered by the examples of his life. Leroy was a retired Teacher and Principal for the Rosepine School System. After his retirement he enjoyed many years of traveling with his Wife , Family members and many friends. Those left to cherish his memory are two sons: Kenny and wife Marie Garst of Dry Creek, LA; Bobby and wife Gina Garst of Rocky Face, GA; three Granddaughters: Hollie Maddox and Justin James, their son Brady, of Lake Charles, LA; Stacey Maddox of Tulsa, OK; Tamera and Baldo Rodriguez, their Daughter Maddy, of Tulsa, OK; two Grandsons: Casey Garst of Kennesaw, GA and Nathan Garst of Kennesaw, GA. Many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Emogene, his brother Maurice and wife Babe Garst, his sister in law Freda Manley; his brother in law Maynard Woodhatch and his parents Clark and Beulah Garst. The Garst Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2 – 5 P.M. at Hixson Funeral Home – DeRidder Louisiana. The Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Hixson Funeral Home – DeRidder Louisiana Chapel, Pastor Jason Hoychick will be officiating. Interment will be at Rosepine Cemetery located in Rosepine, Louisiana. Arrangements entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home – DeRidder.
