Obituary of Roy Zimmerman
Mr. Roy Richard Zimmerman, 84, of Rosepine, LA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in his residence. Mr. Zimmerman was born on January 9, 1933 in Werner, North Dakota to Joseph and Lena Warner Zimmerman. He served in the US Army, SP-3, after serving he worked for Ed's Radio and TV Repair. He served as a member of Local 861 of IBEW as an electrician, he was the best electrician of his time; he could actually repair anything. Mr. Zimmerman has lived in Louisiana since 1950. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Zimmerman was a member of American Legion Hall Post 27; his hobbies included playing pool, working the bingo hall, and painting pictures. He also loved watching football and basketball. Mr. Zimmerman will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Mr. Zimmerman was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lena Warner Zimmerman; first wife, Bennie Foshee Zimmerman; two brothers, Frank and Paul Zimmerman; two sisters, Betty Dozart and Mary Thompson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darlene Cooley Zimmerman; two sons, Terry Lee Zimmerman and wife, Lisa, Richard Zimmerman and wife, Michelle; one daughter, Twenda Zimmerman Hanson; two step-children, Christopher Yanko and Dawn Kuhn and husband, Keith; seven grandchildren, Kristina Buckels, Kayla Bordelon, Caitlyn Ebarb, Dakota Zimmerman, Nicole Davis, Hannah Zimmerman, and Sarah Peshoff; step grandchildren, Samantha Kuhn, Jensen Kuhn, Riley Kuhn, and Christopher Yanko; three great- grandchildren, Gabriel Buckels, Elyn Buckels, and Kamryn Carrier.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hixson Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA. Services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in Rosepine Cemetery.
The Children of Mr. Zimmerman would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care that Mrs. Darlene Zimmerman gave to their father.
