Obituary of Melba Brown Windham

Melba Brown Windham, 91 of DeRidder, passed away on April 10, 2010. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 from 1:00 p.m until service time at 2:00 p.m at the First Baptist Church DeRidder with Pastor Lindsey Burns officiating. Burial will follow at the Beauregard Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder. Survivors include her son, John Windham and wife Terri of DeRidder, and family friend and caregiver, Annie Keel. Melba was preceded in death by her husband Albert P. Windham. Melba graduated from Northwestern University where she obtained her degree in education. She began her teaching career in Dry Creek and then moved to DeRidder where she retired after 38 years of service. Melba was a member of the National Educators Association as well as the Louisiana Association of Educators. Mrs. Windham was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder.
