Obituary of Betty Ruth Calcote

Funeral services for Betty Ruth Calcote, 84, of DeRidder, LA will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Hixson Funeral Home, Deridder with Brother Tom Avant & Sister Ramona Avant officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9 PM at Hixson Funeral Home. Mrs. Calcote went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 10, 2016. She was born March 11, 1932 in Cravens, LA to Wavy James and Artimese Thompson James. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in DeRidder, since 1967. Mrs. Calcote started working at the First Baptist Church in DeRidder as the Secretary in 1967 and retired seven years ago. She loved to knit, cook, and read. She loved to play the piano and sing; those who knew her would say "she always had a song in her heart". She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. Mrs. Calcote was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.W. "Joe" Calcote; parents, Wavy James and Artimese Thompson James; son, William "Billy" Calcote; brother, C.W. "Buddy" James; three sisters, Hazel James, Virgie James Bass and Lucille James White Day. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Joan Calcote and numerous nieces and nephews.
