Obituary of Darrell Joseph Sonnier

Darrell Joseph Sonnier, 75, of DeRidder and formerly of Church Point, Louisiana passed away July 25, 2017 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born September 24, 1941 in Church Point, Louisiana to Elie Sonnier and Vera Mae Weatherford-Sonnier. Darrell served our Country in the United States Army. He was a devoted Christian and a very loving husband, father and grandfather. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and will always be remembered for his kind heart shown to those he helped without discord throughout the years. He was also a very hard working man and superb provider to his family. He also enjoyed nature, animals and science. He is survived by his loving wife Melba, his children and grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 4:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder with visitation being held Saturday, July 29, 2017 beginning at 2:00pm and lasting until service time. Cremation has been entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder.
