Obituary of Williams Jr.
Irvin D. Williams, Jr., 84, passed away on June 3, 2010 at his residence in DeRidder. Mr. Williams was born in Anacoco, Louisiana on April 30, 1926 and lived in the Rosepine/DeRidder area for most of his life. He was self employed as a carpenter and proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seaman Second Class from April 10, 1944 until April 20, 1946 during World War II where he earned a Victory Ribbon and Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. He was a lifelong member of the Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Bessie Williams, three sisters and two brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Francis, of 64 years; two sons, John Dewey "J.D." Williams and his wife Kathleen of Rosepine, George Avery Williams and his wife Ladonna of Hemphill, Texas; three daughters, Dianne Carver and her husband Allen of Burr Ferry, Louisiana; Linda Gail Arron and her husband "Butch" of Bossier City, Louisiana; Barbara Lynn West and her Husband Rodney of DeRidder; 15 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral service was held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse with the Reverend Ed Tilley officiating. Burial was at Cooper Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneral.com.
