Obituary of Freda K. Leonard

Freda Katherine Leonard, 78, of DeRidder, was born December 2, 1937, in Pitkin, Louisiana. She had been a resident of DeRidder for the past 43 years after extensive travel with her husband while he served in the Army. Katherine, or Freda Katherine, as she was known from her childhood, was reared and educated in Rosepine, graduating in 1956. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her many pets as well as going to garage sales and helping others. She was a gifted musician being self-taught on many instruments and had a quick sense of humor. She had worked as secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Leonard, their daughter, Yolanda Sue Cocke, her parents, Fred Sigler, Mary Beatrice (Parrot) Sigler LeMay and her step-father, C.V. LeMay. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Carl Gordon Leonard, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Katherine and Joe McFatter, grandchildren: William (Emily) Cocke, Jacob (Courtney) McKee, Nathan (Katelynn) McKee, Benjamin McFatter, Hollie (Drew) Fruge, Tiffany McFatter, Aaron (Samantha) McFatter, and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws Mable Wilson, and Juanita Thompson, as well as many family and friends. The family will receive friends for Visitation on Tuesday, November 29th from 5:00-9:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home – DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation will resume at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30th at 8:00am. Funeral Services for Freda Katherine Leonard will follow at 2:00pm.
