Obituary of William Leon Perkins

Services for William "Buddy" Perkins will be held December, 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder with the Rev. Curt Iles officiating. Burial will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery in Dry Creek, LA. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Hixson Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Mr. Perkins, 66, of DeRidder passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the VA Medical Center in Pineville, LA. He was born in Leesville, LA but grew up in the Moss Bluff area where he graduated from Sam Houston High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served 2 years in the U.S. Army and 4 years in the Navy. He worked in Lake Charles for Citgo Pipeline services for 25 years and then worked construction building highways and repairing roads throughout Southwest LA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. Survivors left to cherish his memory are Stepfather, Sherwood Goins of Dry Creek; Son, Michael Perkins and family of DeRidder; Stepson, Kevin Wix and family of Moss Bluff; Brothers, Marvin Goins of Longville, LA and Rodney Goins of Ragley, LA; 3 Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in Death was his wife, Virginia Perkins; Father, Irby Perkins, Sr.; Mother, Lilla Perkins Goins and Sisters, Linda Smith and Merlin Wallace.
