Obituary of Freddie Jean Goins
Freddie Jean Goins was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 24, 2010. Mrs. Goins was born on May 5, 1932 in Leesville, La to the late parents, Fred and Lilly Allen.
Freddie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Mack Goins of DeRidder, 3 daughters: Alma R. Gillespie and husband Steve; Jeanie Goins White, and Carmen Menzel and husband Mark. Grandchildren; Carrie Roux, Matthew Gillespie, Chad Lippmin, Elizabeth Menzel and Collin Menzel; 5 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Charles R. Allen; and sister Joy Godball.
She was preceded by her parents and sister, Gloria Lambright.
Freddie graduated from Rosepine High School and SOWELA Technical Institute with a degree in Practical Nursing. She retired from St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, LA after more than 20 years of service. Upon retiring she moved to Rosepine, LA where she was part owner of Pine Haven Nursing Home.
As a young lady, she played the piano for the First Pentecostal Church of Rosepine, LA for several years. She was an active member of Cypress Creek Baptist Church where she also played the piano and was involved with VBS. Freddie was a member of Kiwanis of Rosepine, was the Election Commissioner for Vernon Parish and Distributer of Commodities of Vernon Parish as well.
Visitation will be held at the Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 4:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m in the Chapel at the Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder. Rev. Roy Johnson will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Cypress Cemetery DeRidder under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder.
