Obituary of Carl Edward Leonard

Carl E. Leonard,78, passed away December 29, 2010. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving 21 years. He served his country in both the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He also retired with the DeRidder City Police Dept. after serving from 1977 – 1989. He taught defensive driving from 1984 – 2000. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW 3619 and Municipal Police Association. Visitation will be January 1, 2011 from 5 pm until 9 pm in the chapel at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will continue at 12 pm until time of service at 2 pm. on Sunday, January 2. Burial will follow in the Beauregard Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Katherine; son, Carl G. Leonard of DeRidder; daughters, Mary McFatter and husband Joe of Moss Bluff, LA, Sue Cocke of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Mabel Wilson of Parkton, MD, Myrtle Baer of Aberdeen, MD, Juanita Thompson of Havre DeGrace, MD; grandchildren, William Cocke, Jacob (Courtney) McKee, Nathan McKee, Benjamin Edward McFatter, Hollie McFatter, Aaron McFatter, and Tiffany McFatter.
