Obituary of McLean Jr.

Thomas T. McLean Jr. was born October 3, 1927 in Lake Charles, La and passed away on Sunday December 4th, 2016 in Kingwood Texas. Tom graduated from Longville High School. After high school he attended McNeese University for a short time before joining the US Navy. He served in the Navy until his discharge in 1947. Tom went to work for National Cash Register (NCR) company in 1948. He retired from NCR after 43 years with his wife Grace in Longville, Louisiana. He married Grace Elaine Cooley in 1952 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. In that time they made homes in Lake Charles, Louisiana; Orange, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Houma, Louisiana and returned to Longville, Louisiana where they both finished their careers and retired. Tom and Grace moved to Kingwood, Texas in 2012 to be closer to family. During their 62 years of marriage they raised three sons, Ben, Alan and Wesley. Tom enjoyed taking his family camping, hiking, water skiing and traveling. In his retired life Tom enjoyed traveling, working on projects, visiting with his children, grand children and great grand children. Tom was devoted to his family, church, friends and community. While living in Longville, Tom was active in the First Baptist Church of Longville where he served as a deacon and also served the community as a volunteer fireman. He was never too busy to help a friend. Tom was the youngest of 2 children of Thomas T (Sr.) and Annie McLean. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Grace, his older sister Annie Rae Bulloch, his brother in-law Henry Bulloch, his nephew Tommy Bulloch, his niece Mary Ann Bulloch and daughter-in-law Kathy McLean. He is survived by his 3 sons: Ben McLean and wife Laura of Kingwood, TX; Alan McLean and wife Kelly of Kingwood, TX; Wesley McLean and wife Jan of Wilmington, NC; 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephew Edward Bulloch and wife Sharon, niece Gretchen Bulloch and brother and sister in-law Alfred and Janice Cooley and their families. Tom was extremely proud of all his family and enjoyed pictures, stories and visits from them including his grandchildren; Ben's children and step children, Elizabeth, Jeffry, Nathan, Aaron, David and Daniel; Alan's son, Austin; Wesley's daughter, Nikki and his great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; Katherine Grace "Gracie", Thompson, Denver, River, Journey, Hazel, Canyon, Dean, Gabe, Clay, Kai and Marley. Visitation will take place Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5 – 9 pm at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation will resume Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Noon at First Baptist Church of Longville, located in Longville, Louisiana. Funeral Services from Mr. Thomas T. McLean Jr. will be held at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church of Longville. Interment will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, Louisiana. Arrangements under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA.
