Obituary of Mattie Seaman Nixon

Mattie Seaman Nixon, 82, of DeRidder, LA-Bundick Lake area, passed away on May 15, 2011 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a native of Pitkin, LA. She worked as clerk for Rexall Drug store in DeQuincy, LA. and was a caregiver to many in DeRidder, LA. She was a wonderful Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jeff Seaman and Odis Elizabeth LaCaze Kent; her husband, John R. Nixon; her son, Irick Nixon and Baby Nixon. Mattie is survived by her Son, Robert Nixon of Prairieville, LA.; and two Sisters, Berneice Weeks Vincent of Port Arthur, TX., and Martha Weeks Eskine of Baton Rouge, LA.; Brother, Wallace "Bill" Seaman of Dry Creek, LA., and Ezell Seaman of Buna, TX.; Grandchildren, Barry Nixon of Prairieville, LA., and Chad Nixon of St. Amant, LA; and Great-grandchildren, Zachary Nixon, MacKenzie Nixon, Abbie Nixon, Brittany Orrender, Carlee Orrender, and Dylan Orrender. Visitation will be held at the Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 9:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. Rev. Curt Iles will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder. Pall Bearers include, Barry Nixon, Chad Nixon, Jo Seaman, Jimmy Seaman, Jack Barber, Merlin Schales, Westley Doucet, Reggie Sheets and Honorary Pallbearer, Jadon Barber.
