Obituary of Agnes Cooley Wyatt
Agnes Cooley Wyatt, 89, of DeRidder, La. was born on April 7, 1922 to Melvin and Bertha Cooley in DeRidder,La. and passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, La.
As a homemaker, Agnes had many special interests. She raised chickens and cattle. She loved her cows and had every one of them named. She also enjoyed growing and canning vegetables to provide for her family. In her spare time, she loved her yard work and flowers.
Agnes was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was one of the first students of the Shady Grove School and was a member of the Shady Grove Historical Society.
Mrs.Wyatt will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include:
Son, Arnold Ray Wyatt and wife Lavonne; daughters, Marie Mitchell and (James), Dianne Pritchard and husband Jim, Becky Cantrell and husband Michael, Carolyn Poore, all of DeRidder, and Regina Hall and husband Herman of Rosepine, La.; brother, Paul Cooley and wife Edwina, residents of Rosepine retirement Center. Mrs.Wyatt had 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren with an additional great-great-grandchild to be born in October.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.R. (Pete) Wyatt; sister, Mary Edwards; brothers, Jimmie, Marvin, Fred, and Glen Cooley, infant twin sisters; great grandson, Cameron Lichtenauer and son-in-law, Roger Michael Poore.
Visitation will be held for Agnes on Saturday, August 27, 2011, from 6:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m at Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder and on Sunday, August 28, 2011, from 9:00 a.m until 8:00 p.m at Hixson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011, at 2:00 p.m at Friendship Baptist Church of DeRidder. Visitation at the church will be held from 9:00 a.m until the service at 2:00 p.m at the church. Brother Joe Pool and Brother Johnny Johnson will be officiating. Words of inspiration will be given by Brother Kelly Harper and Tim Cooley.
