Obituary of Thomas Alton Stanford
Thomas Alton Stanford, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Westwood Nursing Home in DeRidder, La.
Thomas was born on November 13, 1923 to Noah Stanford and Sarah Jarrell Stanford.
Thomas was in the Conservation Corps during WWII. He attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. He earned a bachelor of Divinity on May 24, 1946. He preached at many churches throughout the years. He worked for years as a mechanic in many places, to include Ft. Polk, Houston, and Lufkin. He retired from Eaton Corporation.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years, Versie C. Stanford, daughter, Naomi Yates and granddaughter, Merry Marlene Jarrell.
He is survived by his daughter, Essie Jarrell and husband Marlon of Evans, La. Granddaughters, Renee Moore of Willis, TX. and Sarah Jarrell of Covington, GA. Grandsons, Dean Yates and wife Dawn of Murtaugh, ID. and Aaron Jarrell and wife Maria of Leesville, LA. He was also survived by his great-grandchildren, Waylon Thomas, Emily Thomas, Wyatt Moore, Naomi Elizabeth Moore and Wade Yates, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 4:00 P.M. at Galilee Baptist Church in Evans, La. Brother Dean Yates will be officiating. Burial will follow at Evans Cemetery in Evans, La. under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, La.
