Obituary of Charles Robert Allen

Charles Robert (Bob) Allen, age 84, of Rosepine , LA. passed away on April 12, 2012 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on October 19, 1927 in Leesville, LA. to the late Fred and Lilly Mae Jeane Allen of Leesville, La. Bob worked for Eastern Airlines in Lake Charles, La. He taught Math and Science at Iowa High School , retired as assistant principal of J.I. Watson Junior High and Elementary School. Bob was also Administrator/Co-Owner of Pinehaven Nursing Home in Rosepine, La. Bob served in the United States Army in WWII and was past president of the Kiwanis Club, Lion's Club, and active member of the First United Methodist Church of DeRidder, La. He was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa, La. Charles graduated from Rosepine High School, went to 4 years of college at Southwestern University and received his masters at McNeese University. Bob was survived by his wife: Elaine Stevens Allen, daughters: Barbara Allen, Kathy Allen Beard and husband Russell, sons: Charles Allen and wife Cathy, Jim Allen and wife Patricia, Fred Allen and wife Angela and Rob Stevens. He was also survived by his sister: Joy Godbold and 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Bruce Allen and his sisters, Freddie Goins and Gloria Allen Haley. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Service will be Sunday, April 15, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, La. Visitation will resume at 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Wayne Evans will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA. under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Building Fund of First Methodist Church in DeRidder, La. and Scholarship Fund of the Kiwanis Club in DeRidder, La.
