Obituary of Wilford Johnson
Wilford "Billy Guy" Johnson, age 88, of Leesville, LA. passed away on May 29, 2012 at his residence in Providence, LA.
Billy Guy was a lifelong residence of The Providence Community. He was born on January 28, 1924 in Leesville LA. to the late Wilmer and Lila Johnson.
Billy Guy was retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad where he worked as a welder foreman, and track supervisor for 22 years. He was an avid farmer and cattleman. He loved working around his farm and spending time with his family and friends. Billy Guy enjoyed raising and caring for his many different animals. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Billy Guy was survived by his Sons, Mike Johnson and wife, Connie of Lake Arthur, TX. and Jay Johnson and wife, Angie of Providence LA. One daughter, Connie Johnson of Lake Charles, LA. One brother, Milton Johnson and wife, Bonnie of Pitkin, LA. One sister, Ima White of Rosepine, LA. He was also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy Guy was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Gill Johnson. Brothers, Edwin Johnson, Elton Johnson, Grady Johnson, Mitchell Lee Johnson and also by two sisters, Emma Parsley, and Mildred Clark.
The family would like to say thank you to the caregivers, Margie White, Martha McAllen, and Carla Baker for the love and care they gave to their loved one. You are truly appreciated.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Providence Baptist Church in Providence Community from 4:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. The church will open Sunday at 9:00a.m. until time of service at 2:00p.m. at Providence Cemetery in Providence Community. Brother Glass and Arlan Smith will be officiating under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
