Obituary of LB Griffin

Lifetime DeRidder resident and business man L.B. Griffin, Jr. passed away Friday morning, June 22, 2012. Mr. Griffin was the owner and operator of Piggly Wiggly stores in DeRidder. He was 92 years of age and living in the St. Joseph Assistant Living near his son, John Wayne Griffin in Monroe, Louisiana. Mr. Griffin was married to Gloria Griffin who passed away in December 1998. He then was married to Peggie Jean Griffin, also deceased. He was a longtime member and deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. Mr. Griffin is survived by one son, John Wayne Griffin and his wife Sue of Monroe, Louisiana, three granddaughters; Karen Griffin Thomas, of Guatemala, Kristin Griffin Taylor, of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Karla Jan Griffin, of Monroe, Louisiana and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home, Deridder on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and funeral service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Bro. Alan Knuckles will be officiating under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, La.
