Obituary of Miriam Yvonne Cardy
Celebration of Life services for Miriam Yvonne Sweat Cardy, 77, will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Fullerton United Pentecostal Church, Fullerton, LA, with Rev. Dale Mortensen and Bro. Wesley Coon officiating under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Glass Window Cemetery, Slagle, LA.
The family would like to accept guests for visitation Tuesday, October 23, 2012, from the hours of 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the church.
Miriam was born April 2, 1935, in Slagle, LA, to the late Andrew Jackson and Hazel Lea Wiley Sweat, and was called home October 22, 2012, in Alexandria, LA. She always put her family and friends first. Miriam's legacy consists of strength, love and dignity in which she always portrayed. She believed her grandchildren were Angels and in her beloved eyes they could do "NO" wrong. Miriam strongly believed in her God and was devoted to serving him.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Jimma Lea Vegas, Helen Doris Watterson, Donald Jeane Sweat, Dortha (Dot) Ann Statum and Frankie Louise Ray.
Left to cherish Miriam's beautiful memories will be her beloved husband of 60 years; Thomas Sidney Cardy, five sons: Ernest Sidney Cardy and wife Kathy Ann, John Malcolm Cardy, Thomas Andrew Cardy (Butch) and wife Marilyn, Philip Randolph Cardy, and David Earl Cardy and wife Michelle, two daughters; Dolly Elizabeth Owens and husband Rodney and Constance Faye White (Connie) and husband Greg, two sisters: Wanda Lou Murphy and Eva Dean Statum and husband David, one brother-in-law; J. C. Statum, Jr., 28 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many wonderful friends.
Honoring Miriam as pallbearers will be Kevin Statum, Sidney Cardy, John (Bo) Cardy, Jr., Jeremy Cardy, Ben Cardy, Zachary Cardy, Joshua Owens, and Sam White. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Cardy, Mathieu Cardy, Wesley Cardy, Chance Dickens, Jacob Owens, and Jason White.
