Obituary of Earl Lee Rice
Earl Lee Rice, 76, of DeRidder, Louisiana passed from this life on Saturday, April 11th, 2015 at the home of his beloved daughter with family and loved ones by his side. He was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on June 30th, 1938 to Roy and Anna Rice.
Earl had an active childhood with six sisters and three brothers. He began serving in the U.S. Army in 1957 and ended his service in 1977. During his service he traveled to many places including Germany and he was a Vietnam Veteran. He settled in Louisiana to raise his family. In September of 1961 his first born Sam Lee Rice came to this world followed by his baby in October of 1962 a daughter Betty Rice Tucker.
Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nell Owen Rice; two sisters, Merna Sutton and Jean McDonald and two brothers, Robert Rice and Milo Rice. Those left to mourn his lose and cherish his memory are one son, Sam Lee Rice of Paris, IL; one daughter, Betty Rice Tucker and husband Brad of Ball, LA; four sisters, Laura Cook of Oskaloosa, IA, Ada Cormeny of Newton, IA, Joyce Stier of Grinnell, IA and Dottie Partelow of Newton, IA; one brother, Orval Rice of Malcom, IA; five grandchildren, Jody Ray Stephens of Jennings, LA, Terry Radney of Ball, LA, Mary Kaskadden of Bussey , IA Sammy Kaokadden of Montezuma, IA and Jennifer Sullivan of DeRidder, LA; ten great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 14th, 2015 at Beauregard Memorial Cemetery in DeRidder, LA at 11:00am. Arrangements by Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
