Obituary of Jesse Garrett Head
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Jesse Garrett Head, 91, will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church downtown DeRidder at the corner of 1st and Pine, with Lindsey Burns Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating.
The family would love to meet guests for visitation Tuesday, April 2, 2013, from the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA. Visitation will resume Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Hixson's.
Mr. Jesse Head was born May 16, 1921, in Eros, LA, to the late Jesse George and Helen Garrett Head and was reunited with his beloved wife; Vern Neta Goodeaux Head March 31, 2013.
Mr. Head was a long time member of First Baptist Church of DeRidder. Mr. Head served his grateful nation on active duty in the United States Navy during WWII in Brazil and the Pacific. Following many years of dedicated employment, Mr. Head retired as an Instrument Mechanic from Cit-Con Oil Company. After retirement, Mr. Head raised Santa Gertrudis cattle.
Mr. Head was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Mary Helen Head and one brother, Frank Head. Left to cherish such beautiful memories of Mr. Head will be his two sons: Calvin Head and wife Megan Conway of Shreveport, LA and Howard Head and wife Brenda of DeRidder, LA, three sisters: Betty Lou DeRouen and husband A.L. "Buddy" of DeRidder, LA; Francis H. Adkins and husband Ruday of Covington, LA and Mellie "Sissy" Morris and husband Robert of Orange, VA; one grandson, Nathan Head of DeRidder, LA; along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends.
The family has requested that donations be made to First Baptist Church DeRidder – Building Fund in honor of the Legacy Mr. Head leaves behind.
