Obituary of Dickens Sr.

William Ray Dickens, Sr. Celebration of Life services for William Ray Dickens, Sr., 77, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday August 9, 2013, in the sanctuary of Shiloh Baptist Church, DeRidder, LA, with Bro. Rod Martin and Bro. Sam Burchard officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Shiloh Cemetery. The family will be accepting friends for visitation Thursday, August 8, 2013, from the hours of 5-10 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church. Visitation will resume Friday, August 9, 2013 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Mr. Dickens, Sr. was born January 19, 1936, in Sugartown, LA, to the late William A. and Orel Mae Harper Dickens. He was called to his Heavenly home August 6, 2013, in DeRidder, LA. Mr. Dickens, Sr. served this grateful nation by joining the U.S. ARMY. He has been a life-long member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. Mr. Dickens was a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as the Eastern Star's #210 both of Sugartown. In his spare time Mr. Dickens, Sr. enjoyed gardening and spending time with his beloved family. Left to cherish the precious memories of Mr. William Ray Dickens, Sr. will be one son, William R. Dickens, Jr. and wife Tammy of Sugartown, LA; two daughters: Claudette Anderson and husband David of Emerson, GA, and Sheila Simmons and husband Craig of DeRidder, LA; two sisters: Lucille Singletary of Alexandria, LA, and Ruby Manuel and husband Wilford of Sulfur, LA; three brothers: Edward Dickens and wife Mary of Shreveport, LA, Clyde Dickens and wife Eva of Lufkin, TX, and Robert Dickens and wife Pat of DeRidder, LA; seven grandchildren: Katie and Amanda Dickens, Ronnie and wife Tessa Simmons, Randy and wife Stephanie Simmons, Alyson Simmons, Denny and wife Sarah Anderson, and Kenny and wife Katie Anderson, three great-grandchildren: Courtlyn and Grayson Simmons and Bailey Anderson along with extended family members and many wonderful friends. Honoring Mr. Dickens, Sr. as pallbearers will be Ronnie Simmons, Randy Simmons, Kenny Anderson, Tommy Harper, C.J. LeJune and Glenn Smith.
